MARGATE, Fla. – A woman is facing grand theft charges after she attempted to steal more than $2,000 worth of baby formula from a South Florida Publix, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, Sheran Sheppard, 24, was arrested Monday for stealing from a Publix store at 7230 W. Atlantic Blvd. in Margate twice in February.

Margate police said surveillance video from the supermarket shows Sheppard stealing more than $1,000 worth of baby formula from the store on Feb. 11.

Police said she returned to the store on Feb. 21 and again filled her shopping cart with about $1,000 worth of baby formula.

After passing by the cash register, Sheppard was stopped by the store manager, who kept her from leaving with the baby formula.

Police said surveillance video also shows multiple people helping Sheppard remove the baby formula from the shelves.

The store's manager and assistant manager identified Sheppard to police in a photo lineup.

According to the report, Sheppard agreed to speak with a detective about the incident, but never showed up.

She was arrested Monday, and the case as been filed with the Broward County state attorney's office for review.

Records show that Sheppard was arrested on similar charges in 2014. Police said Sheppard and another woman shoplifted while three children were with them at a Home Depot in Coral Springs.
